The media push toward the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee will begin in earnest January 7.

That's the day of the first media walk-through, an event that usually draws hundreds of reporters, producers, technicians and editors from around the country who are eager to get their first look at the convention facilities as they begin planning coverage for the four-day convention.

Another walk-through will be held in the spring, with the convention staged, July 13-16.

Local organizers released the first details of the walk-through Friday.

“Members of the media play an important role in bringing the story and the message of the Convention to millions of voters during this critical election year,” Joe Solmonese, the CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said in a statement.
