This picture shows the major store for the people in Garfield. The Levis (pronounced "Levus") store in Levis provides a place for many of the farm families to go. Taken in 1906, this photograph shows the owner and his family in front of the store.

  	Here we see Main Street in the village of Melrose. This photograph, looking North, shows many of the shops in this thriving town. Notice the contrast of the automobile on the right side of the picture and the horse in the center of the picture.

This photograph shows the depot in Merrillan. With the intersection of the two rail lines, this was the busiest depot in the county with trains pulling into town during all hours of the day and night.

  	Like much of the region, Millston was settled by Scandinavians . This photograph shows one of the most important buildings to the pioneer settlers, the village Chapel.

With the Northwest Railroad running through town, the Millston Depot was an important place for the community. With many freight and passenger trains running through town, there was always something happening at the depot.

With the swift Squaw Creek flowing underneath it, the Narracong Mill was one of many lumber mills in Jackson County. If you look closely, you can see a young boy fishing the rushing waters.
