A special meeting of the Common Council was held at City Hall in the City of Black River Falls on November 27, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. Alderpersons Danielson, Olson, Austin, Onstad, Johnson, Mathews, Eddy and Rahmlow were present. Mayor Hunter presided.

Mayor Hunter opened the public hearing on the proposed 2008 City of Black River Falls budget as published.

There was no one in attendance who wished to speak at the public hearing.

It was moved by Alderperson Eddy, seconded by Alderperson Onstad to close the public hearing as above. Motion carried.

Street Superintendent Todd Gomer presented bids opened on November 16, 2007 for a loader and garbage truck chassis. He recommended the City purchase a John Deere loader at a cost of $97,100 including a 7 year warranty and a new 2005 GMC truck chassis at $41,801. Funds are included in the 2008 budget.

It was moved by Alderperson Danielson, seconded by Alderperson Austin to approve the recommendations of Mr. Gomer as above. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderperson Danielson, seconded by Alderperson Rahmlow that there be no change in the Mayor or Alderperson salaries for those elected in April 2008. Motion carried with Alderperson Eddy voting no.

Alderperson Eddy reviewed his memo recommending a City safety program through the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin (MEUW).

It was moved by Alderperson Eddy, seconded by Alderperson Mathews to participate in the MEUW safety program. Motion carried with Alderpersons Johnson and Rahmlow voting no.

The Council reviewed the proposed 2008 City budget and resulting tax rate calculations.

It was moved by Alderperson Rahmlow, seconded by Alderperson Eddy to set the City 2008 tax levy at $1,552,068. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderperson Mathews, seconded by Alderperson Johnson to adjourn. Motion carried.
