The Public Works Committee met at City Hall in the City of Black River Falls on July 18, 2007 at 6:00 P.M. Alderpersons Austin, Rahmlow, Danielson, Olson and Mathews were present.
- Jim Haldeman, developer of Lallapalooza Estates, expressed concern over the condition of the ponds including algae build-up and water level. He requested the City run the pump on the well to increase the water level and to add copper sulfate to clear the water. Running the pump sometimes causes water to flow onto the adjoining property. There is a lawsuit with the City involved concerning the water run-off. Because of the lawsuit the City’s attorney has advised that no water be allowed onto the adjoining property owner’s land. There are other problems with the ponds which have to be resolved with the contractor.
- It was moved by Alderperson Danielson, seconded by Alderperson Rahmlow to adjourn the Lallapalooza Estates pond matter to the August 7, 2007 Finance Committee meeting after the City has met with its attorney. Motion carried.
- Street Superintendent Todd Gomer advised the Committee that the tipping fee for solid waste disposal has been increased in the Governor’s budget. Alderperson Mathews authorized the City Clerk to write a letter to our local representatives to express our concern over this increase. This would cost the City an additional $7,000.00 for garbage disposal.
- The City will be paving the alleys in the downtown area. The City will pay for the 12’ alley width. Any store wishing to have additional paving done should contact Todd by August 1, 2007.
- It was moved by Alderperson Mathews, seconded by Alderperson Olson to adjourn. Motion carried.
