Industrial Park Commission Minutes of November 15, 2007 Print E-mail

The Industrial Park Commission met at Skyline Golf Course on November 15, 2007 at 12:00 Noon.  Commissioners Fred Goettl, Joe Hunter, Ron Danielson, Don Evenson, Ron Roodell, Eric Chrisinger, Norm Stoker and Bob Becker were present.

1.      Bill Arndt reviewed the wetland study recently completed on an 80 acre parcel of property adjacent to the east boundary of the City’s Industrial Park. There is an identified wetland running from the northwest corner to the southeast corner. The City has a DNR review of this situation which makes it nearly impossible to develop the wetland portion. However, there is a considerable portion of the property at the northeast corner which will be able to be developed. The City’s engineer will give us the acreage of this property.

2.      Mayor Hunter updated those in attendance on current economic activity as follows:

Gross Motors

Culvers

Black River Development (Pines)

Brownfield clean-up on Winnebago Avenue

Oriental Kitchen addition

3.      Barb Brower, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Fred Goettl, Chairperson of this Commission, reviewed a DVD video/slide show they had prepared through Hometown Productions. The video details areas of Jackson County which may be of interest to potential developers. The slide show includes information including utility rates which would be useful to a developer. The video/slide show will be available on the Chamber website and as a DVD to be distributed. The Commission will meet once the project is finished to further the marketing plan.

4.      The Commission was updated on the progress to date on the Black River Dam project and the Fairgrounds. Both are progressing well.

Meeting adjourned.

William Arndt

City Clerk
