MADISON……The WI Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be holding Spring Fish and Wildlife Rules Hearings and Conservation Congress County Meetings across the state on Monday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m., reports State Representative Terry Musser (R-Melrose).
Each year the DNR holds these hearings to provide a forum for the citizens of
Wisconsin to recommend future rule changes, provide feedback on proposed changes and elect delegates to the Conservation Congress. There is one meeting held in each county, and the topics covered are similar at each meeting.
According to Musser, there are important issues being covered this year. One relates to changes made to musky fishing seasons in northern Wisconsin. Another would add a year to the experimental fall season for wild turkey hunting using dogs. The DNR is also seeking public input on the possible extension of the fall wild turkey season.
Citizens will also vote on whether issues should be considered for future legislation, such as the use of archery equipment with a gun deer license, a statewide ban on deer feeding and baiting, discontinuation of the closing of managed forest law lands, and wolf management.
Representative Musser encourages all who are interested to attend, to participate and to share their opinions with the DNR at these hearings. Meeting locations in the 92nd Assembly District are as follows:
Clark County: Greenwood High School West Gymnasium, Greenwood
Eau Claire County: South Middle School Auditorium, Eau Claire
Jackson County: Black River Falls Middle School LGI, Black River Falls
Monroe County: Sparta High School Auditorium, Sparta
