Madison- Rep Mark Radcliffe (D-Black River Falls) today applauded Fort McCoy on their initiative in using electric vehicles on the base.
“As an advocate of government stepping up to the plate and doing something to conserve energy and cut costs, I commend Fort McCoy’s incorporation of eight low speed electric vehicles into their fleet which will be used around Fort McCoy’s military posts,” Rep. Radcliffe said.
“This is a perfect example of where government has taken the lead and looked to the future to reduce cost by decreasing the amount of energy consumed. Due to less moving parts that wear out and a hydrogen fuel cell that is three times as efficient as a conventional gas engine, electric vehicles will cut down fuel and maintenance costs by a large amount. This will also help our government as electric vehicles sharply reduce overall energy costs. Fort McCoy leads by example with this progressive move forward to cut costs while maintaining services.”
“Fort McCoy, along with our local governments, continually looks for ways to maintain current services, while cutting costs to save tax payer dollars. I congratulate Fort McCoy for taking this action and acknowledge the Fort and its leadership as true leaders in Wisconsin.”
